Leadership
LAHSA Leadership is a special Advisory consisting of elected members from each grade level at LAHSA. The purpose is to organize events that boost the engagement of the LAHSA community and give the students a voice when it comes to making decisions that affect them. Leadership students come up with ideas for events of various sizes that they think will boost the morale of LAHSA students and get them excited about coming to school. We promote responsibility and leadership skills to help our students succeed in the future. I try to act mostly as a facilitator and advisor, letting them take the lead on any organizing or managing of events and promotions.

-
Our main event in the Fall is Haunted Hallway, in which the students organize a haunted house in the Theatre Hallway, which is open to the entire RFK campus. The Leadership students are in charge of organizing the costumes, props, and actors, with each Leadership Committee managing one section of the Hallway.
-
We organize Spirit Weeks throughout the year to promote positivity and creativity, with students earning Spirit Points for participating, in hopes of helping their advisory with the Spirit Award at the end of the year.
-
Since the cell-phone ban went into effect, the Leadership kids have been organizing small events on Fridays during lunch so that the students have something fun they can do, like a Trivia contest, Loteria, or a Pi Day Relay.
-
In the Spring Semester, we have an Advisory/Grade Level Competition to encourage camaraderie and boost school spirit. This year it will be a badminton competition (Last year it was volleyball)
-
This semester we are also trying a new event based on the show Squid Game. This competition was designed entirely by the students and will act as an additional Grade-Level competition, in which the students play games like those played in the popular show.
-
Our Community Care Committee also curates a bulletin board with community resources, like Know Your Rights Cards and Healthcare services. They also create self-care baskets for students who are in need of a little TLC. They are also organizing an Easter Egg Hunt during Lunch after spring break to coincide with Easter and Spirit Week.
-
We like to have Ice Cream Socials and Hot Cocoa Socials, depending on the weather, with games and treats for the students to get together and have some fun after school or during lunch.
-
At least once a semester we sell Candy Grams as both a fundraiser and as a fun treat for the other students.
